Practicing in Fort Myers, Fl

My counseling style is grounded in the humanistic perspective. I believe that we all have the desire and ability to reach our full potential and that each person has their own vision of what that potential is for her or himself. My job is not to tell you what that is, but to be a guide on your journey to your ultimate destination. I use art and play based interventions in my practice to help you develop insight, awareness, and understanding about your experience and aide you in using that information to create lasting change in your life. I interweave important concepts from cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, gestalt, and solution-focused therapy paradigms as appropriate to your goals.

My work experience is highly varied and I have been fortunate to work in a myriad of therapeutic settings and programs providing therapy services to a wide range of individuals, which includes the following: community mental health; Pre-K through 12 therapeutic, alternative, and public education; complex medical; trauma focused; memory impairment; substance abuse; relationship difficulties; children & teens in crisis; family conflict; and with children and adults affected by autism spectrum disorders.

I am a graduate of Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and hold a Master’s Degree in Expressive Therapies and Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in art therapy. I am a Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist & Art Therapy Certified Supervisor (ATCB# 10-038) with the Art Therapy Credentials Board and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH#12643) and LMHC Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida. I am a member of the American Art Therapy Association, the Association for Play Therapy and formerly served as the Treasurer for the Florida Art Therapy Association. Recently, I contributed a chapter on Art Therapy to the text “Integrating Expressive Arts and Play Therapy: A Guidebook for Mental Health Practitioners and Educators,” co-authored chapter, with art therapist Rachel Brandoff, on Art Therapy Supervision to the text “Digital Art Therapy: Materials, Methods and Applications,” and co-authored a chapter on Museum Based Adolescent Art Therapy Group to develop affect regulation skills, with art therapist Angel Duncan, in the text “Creative Arts-Based Group Therapy with Adolescents: Theory and Practice“. When possible, I enjoy presenting, teaching, and training on the topics of art therapy and mental health both locally and nationally.
