ABOUT MEAGHAN:
Welcome, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and provide a bit of history to help you get a sense of what I’m about professionally and personally.
I’m a ( LMHC) Licensed Mental Health Counselor in full-time private practice in Palm Beach County, Florida. I hold advanced credentials as a certified EMDR trauma therapist, (CAP) Certified Addictions Professional, (ICGC-II) nationally certified level two gambling counselor, level two Gottman Marriage Therapist, and state-certified Qualified Supervisor of Registered Interns seeking licensure.
I received my master’s degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida, and my undergraduate degree from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. I grew up on the “Jersey Shore” in Sea Girt, New Jersey, and moved to South Florida upon graduation in 1987.
Throughout my life, I’ve felt a natural affinity to help others. Even as a teenager, I was curious and highly interested in how our brains work and the why behind behaviors of myself and others. I chose this profession to enact positive change in people’s lives through compassion, understanding, connecting the dots of people’s lives to normalize why they do what they do, and feel the way they feel. By looking at the big picture and the different events/channels that are still influencing what is going on now, I am able to frame it and explain it to make logical sense. The next step helping and showing others how to take small sustainable actionable steps.
My work as a psychotherapist has been significantly enhanced through my own life’s challenging experiences and triumphs. I believe in therapy and have personally experienced effective and non-effective therapists along my journey.
I have enjoyed many organizations that support my field. I’m a member of the Florida Mental Health Counselor’s Association, the Mental Health Counselor’s Association of Palm Beach County, and a member of the South Florida Christian Counselor’s Association. I continue to strive to improve and educate myself to further serve my clients. I have been told many times, that I’m warm, compassionate, responsive, and active in the therapeutic process. I am committed to my clients.
In addition to my professional life, for the past 17 years, I have been an active member of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches, a nonprofit organization focused on children’s wellness and welfare. I have served on their Board of Directors for three terms. I have been active in many other philanthropic and business organizations throughout the past 30 years.
